Kelly is a former Marine that received his initial construction experience working with a private contractor for the U.S. Department of State - Foreign Building Operations by providing construction and electrical services for Embassies and U.S. Government properties abroad. Kelly began his contracting business (Keltid Construction 2000-2005; Elite Electrical 2005-Current) after returning to the US and completing his Bachelors of Science in Business Management while working commercial construction as a general construction superintendent.

Kelly hires the most qualified individuals for employment at Elite; he prefers hiring former military personnel for they provide a strong foundation of leadership and dependability for structure and accountability. Some of Elite's craftsmen are not former military, but they are the best employees the area has to offer. All employees are fully screened and tested to ensure a safe working environment for all clientele.

However, his extensive training is in the electrical field.
